How is the money used?

A considerable portion of the incoming funding helps us to cover the expenses of providing this essential service. We monitor these expenses very closely, the Trustees and Management Committee being provided with up to date accounts at every monthly meeting.

The Furniture Station has 5 members of staff (only 1 being full time) together with approximately 20 volunteers. We also have costs associated with our two collection/delivery vehicles and the warehouse/office facilities.

Some of the funding is restricted to certain activities which meet the criteria of the funding bodies, for example vehicle purchase costs and specified salaries/project costs. Other funding is identified by donors for the purchase of new items, such as beds, cots, bedding and occasionally cookers.

Approximately 3000 journeys are made each year to collect and deliver goods, with nearly 4000 items being delivered to over 1000 families. These figures include over 300 White Goods items that have been fully tested and renovated in our own workshop.
