Thank you and Goodbye – The community bids farewell to an old friend

Balloons, party food and a sea of familiar faces – The Furniture Station hosted its farewell yesterday and we couldn’t have been more proud (or emotional!).

The farewell event brought together staff, volunteers and supporters of the The Furniture Station to remember the great work the charity has been able to do in the community since opening in 1994. It was so lovely to see people come together who have had helped or supported the charity through the years and hear how much the charity has meant to them.

I has been a pleasure to have worked with local charities and community projects, alongside Hazel Grove Baptist Church, the Stockport Local Assistance Scheme and Stockport Homes amongst many other local housing and to have our partners their at the farewell demonstrated the strength of The Furniture Station and it’s mission over the last 23 years,

We also had a fabulous cake made by Lisa Smith of The Cake Box in Hazel Grove.

We are incredibly proud of the service we have been able to provide since 1994 and speaking to our guests yesterday made us realise one incredible thing; that even after the Furniture Station closes its doors, it will always have a special place in the hearts of so many.

Thank you and goodbye

It’s been an incredible journey and we’re so glad so many of you came on board with us. And while there’s no getting away from the fact that after 23 years in operation it’s hard to say goodbye, the kindness shown by so many of our volunteers and supporters is something that will never be forgotten. And so we’d like to sign off for the last time by sharing a  quote we’ve been particularly moved by in the closing weeks of The Furniture Station, words we’d like to dedicate to every single volunteer, supporter, Trustee, furniture donor and staff member:

“Our fingerprints never fade from the lives we have touched”
