Furniture Station Facing Closure – we need our very own Christmas Miracle 💔🎄🙏

It’s a time of year whereby we are all celebrating and looking forward to the Christmas festivities ahead.  At The Furniture Station, it is a mixed feeling of sadness and hope. Unfortunately, the past few years has been the most challenging to raise funds for our ongoing operations that support local families into homes with the basics of household items.

Despite our very best efforts over the last year or so, the future of The Furniture Station is in doubt. Following a long struggle to meet costs for several years, it is heart-breaking for us to announce that we will we not be able to cover the annual costs needed to stay open another year.

In preparation, ahead of 2018 operations, we feel we need to provide reasonable notice to our community of this unfortunate situation.  Unless something extraordinary happens in the next few weeks, the Trustees must make the decision to wind down The Furniture Station in January, with an expected full closure in March 2018.

You have been amazing…

We have no words to describe how grateful we are for the generous support that our followers and supporters have provided over the past 23 years and wish we had better news at this time of year. Obviously, this is devastating for all involved and something we are trying to come to terms with.

Each and every donation, gift or referral to our services has meant everything to us and our clients – there has been so much joy in supporting each and every single family. At this moment in time, we continue to operate within our community as needed by local families until, following it’s review, the decision is made final to cease operations in the New Year.

Last year, The Furniture Station delivered over 2,500 items to 600 homes in crisis, and provided eight long-term unemployed people with essential training and job skills. The Furniture Station received the MBE for Voluntary Orgaisations, the Queens Award for Voluntary Service in 2015 and last month we won Stockport Council’s Community Hero award.

The Upcycling Station…

We recently launched our very own Upcycling Station, bringing new life to worn furniture through chalk paint – which is currently active at   to further raise sustainable funds as well as providing transferable skills & training to local unemployed people.  The Upcycling Station will also remain operational until further notice is provided within the New Year.

We will update the community with confirmation of our future outcome in January.

Thank you for your wonderful, ongoing support. Have a very Happy Christmas and a blessed New Year.

Love all of us here at The Furniture Station ❤️
