Just over a month ago, we launched The Upcycling Station – our latest initiative to help fund our work with vulnerable people in Stockport. Here we transform pre-loved furniture with a little TLC into gorgeous stylish shabby-chic treasures to suit a range of decors and personal tastes.
Every single item we sell at the Upcycling Station has been up-cycled by our brilliant team of trained volunteers in Annie Sloan chalk paint – and all proceeds raised go directly into supporting our operational costs at The Furniture Station so we can continue to support local families in crisis.
We’ve been overwhelmed with fabulous feedback from people who are supporting the venture, from those who attended the launch event to those who have bought items which are now being proudly displayed in their new homes.
The feedback so far… (we’re so happy!)
Kerry Flynn bought a solid chest of drawers from us after seeing them on our Upcycling Station Facebook page and she promptly gave us a five-star review and glowing recommendation, saying:
“I purchased a beautiful chest of draws, excellent quality- very strong and sturdy – and the finish is perfect. The volunteers were helpful and friendly, and the delivery service was very handy. Highly recommended.”
Also thrilled with her purchase is mum, Julie, who bought a cream table with stenciled ‘vintage’ motif and decorative silver detailing for her daughter. She said: “I would definitely recommend The Upcycling Station and had a choice of furniture to choose from that appeals to all ages – even teenagers! Thank you.”
Erica’s beautiful dressing table…
Another customer, Erica, bought our Annie Sloan painted baroque table after seeing it at our launch event in August.
“Absolutely in love with my table from The Upcycling Station. I’m using it as a dressing table and all I need is a smaller mirror and a stool to complete the look but I’m very happy with my purchase! Thank you,” she said.
She also gave us a five-star review on Facebook, saying: “Lovely furniture pieces transforme
Gaynor’s blue book case – aka ‘Martha’s Shop’.
Think a bookcase is just a bookcase? Think again. There are so many ways to use our furniture items – just as Gaynor who works at The Furniture Station and her three-year-old daughter, Martha found out. Mum wanted somewhere to store the children’s toys but also something that would look just right in her home too.
“I had been looking for a slim unit where I could put away the kids’ toys – but something that still looked really stylish,” she said. “It also had to have space for me too – so I could display some photos and other bits. When I saw the shelves I had to have them. They really are beautiful and as soon as they were delivered, Martha declared ‘her shop was open’! It’s great that in buying from The Upcycling Station, I know I’ve supported a great local charity too.”
Judging by the photo, Martha is pretty chuffed with the bookcase
her shop too. Better watch out, John Lewis!
