The Up-cycling Station is open for business!

After lots of planning, prepping, and (of, course!) painting, our fab new venture The Up-cycling Station was officially opened last week – and we couldn’t be happier at the feedback from the local community.

We invited local people and businesses along for our ‘Grand Opening’ where they could enjoy tea and cake, see up-cycling demos by our brilliant volunteers, and have a good look at all the furniture items we’ve been busy transforming with Annie Sloan chalk paint.furniture_originalGaynor Jackson, who helped out at the launch said: “It was a really great event and so brilliant to hear the feedback from visitors who came to see what we’ve been up to. Our amazing volunteers Janet and Sue worked really hard with demonstrations showing the painting and waxing process – and we sold some pieces too!”

All proceeds from the public sale of up-cycled furniture will go back into The Furniture Station,  generating much-needed funds to help us continue helping local families.

Big thanks to the Thursday cafe at Hazel Grove Baptist Church who were on hand to help us welcome visitors with tea, coffee and cake (the lemon and poppy-seed was delish!) – and it was great to see so many of our workshop volunteers past and present pop in to say hello too.

We are now busy putting the finishing touches to our website, where our up-cycled furniture will be available to buy. We have also launched a Facebook page where you can see  the pieces on display at the launch event, plus we’ll add new items as they are finished. And as well as the pieces we’re currently up-cycling, we may also be able to take commissions – so if there’s something you really want and a particular colour you’d like it in – we can see if we can help make it happen!

Did you know? By purchasing a product from The Up-cycling Station project, you are not just buying beautifully up-cycled furniture – you are helping us support families in hardship with essential items to build a home and more stable lives. Any items you buy off us are inclusive of delivery in the Stockport area.
