The Furniture Station are extremely pleased to announce that we have been awarded ‘Community Spirited Organisation’ at this years Proud of Stockport Awards 2015.
The ceremony, organised by Stockport Council, took place on Thursday 22nd October at Stockport Town Hall and was presented by Radio presenter Becky Want. Following residential nominations earlier in the year, awards were provided across nine categories to individuals and organisations in order to recognise Stockport’s extraordinary citizens.
The Mayor & Mayoress of Stockport, Cllr Andrew Verdeille and Mrs Cleo Cundall awarded the trophy and certificate to our hard working volunteers & staff on the evening.
Joanne Watson, Fundraising & Communications Manager said: “It was an absolute pleasure to have been selected and presented with this incredible award. We are honoured to be recognised in our local community as we continue to assist local people into their properties with the provision of basic, re-used furniture.”
The Proud of Stockport award follows the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service; the MBE for volunteer groups, which was awarded to our organisation in June 2015.
