Furniture Station chairman, Mr Simon Horsfield, who bravely volunteered to participate in The Epic Lakes Swim Series has enlisted the help of The Furniture Station’s new ambassador and Olympic Swimmer James Goddard from Stockport for advice and training.
Out of the three distances available, Simon opted to do the intensive Open Water Derwent 3.8km swim – the most challenging of all and is the official distance for the ‘Ironman’ triathlon events. The challenging event aims to raise money and awareness for The Furniture Station. “It’s great that James will take time out of his busy schedule to give me a few pointers – I need all the help I can get!” Simon Horsfield
Taking on the new role of local Ambassador, James hopes to get Simon ready for the race with some professional pointers. The Furniture Station is looking forward to working with him and have him join the team.
“I’m absolutely delighted that James has agreed to become an Ambassador for The Furniture Station. We are a local charity supporting local people, so it is a huge encouragement for us to have the backing of a local sporting celebrity such as James as we seek to raise our profile – and we really appreciate him giving up his valuable time in this way.” Simon Horsfield.
Further information to come on the event shortly.
